One material, a thousand possibilities
© Nelissen

The ‘What do you want, Brick’ exhibition is dedicated to a material that is both ancient and resolutely contemporary: brick. The result of an exciting collaboration with Nelissen Brickworks, this exhibition highlights the creative, aesthetic and sustainable potential of this emblematic material.
This family business has been producing bricks for 103 years, placing art and architecture at the heart of its approach. Their showrooms in Lanaken and Marche-en-Famenne are a fine example of this.

‘What do you want, Brick’ creates a link between the CID and Nelissen Brickworks using a sustainable and expressive medium for both architecture and design, through innovative projects and inspiring pieces.
Right at the start of the exhibition, a work of art made with DUBIO brick catches the eye, highlighting this perfect blend of creativity and innovation. Designed by Roel Vandebeek, this brick is marked by incisions that create the illusion of thin bricks one on top of the other, while firing at a high temperature that would cause a brick that was too thin to explode.
