Art shuttle

A visit to the Frateur brick factory, the only one to have been preserved and restored in its entirety, allows you to discover how bricks and tiles were made, dried and fired by hand. In the factory hall, you can see the machines that later took over this craft. A walk through the dryers will lead you to the clogging kiln and the ring kiln.
The guide will teach you the technical details of how the kiln works but will also tell you about the work of the children and the hard work of the women who stacked the stones in the dryers. A short walk through some typical workers' houses will give you an overall view of the brick factory grounds and a panoramic view of and typical landscape of the Rupel region.
