Located in the heart of the Province of Hainaut, Grand-Hornu is one of the most beautiful sites of the industrial revolution.
Built between 1815 and 1835, this former industrial complex in neoclassical style is a real city project, comprising the workshops and offices of the colliery, as well as a workers' housing estate with some 450 houses.
Today, Le Grand-Hornu is one of Belgium's most important showcases for contemporary art. As well as promoting its architectural treasures, the CID and MACS teams focus their activities on contemporary creation.

Over the weekend, let yourself be guided through Grand-Hornu, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and discover the former colliery and its technological and architectural prowess dating back to the 19th century.

As in 2023, a special audience is being targeted. The 2024 Heritage Days will focus on people with special needs. The Days will therefore be offering activities or facilities to enable this audience to discover the treasures of Wallonia's heritage more comfortably.
You'll be able to experience a unique ‘blind’ tour of the site and learn more about visual impairment.
Two tours in sign language are also available for the deaf and hearing-impaired.

Programme for Saturday and Sunday 7 and 8 September:
o 10am-11am-2pm-3pm-4pm-5pm: Guided tours of the site
o 11am: Guided tour in sign language (LSFB)
o 3pm: ‘Blind’ guided tour: feel, smell, touch, listen, taste... blindfolded!

Reservations are essential for both of these tours: 065/613902 or reservations@grand-hornu.be.

Admission is free.
