In 2005, Grand-Hornu Images asbl hosted the exhibition Label-Design.be – Design in Belgium after 2000. As part of Belgium’s 175th anniversary celebrations, this joint initiative by Pro Materia, Flanders Design and Grand-Hornu Images showcased recent work by more than 135 Belgian designers.
The exhibition was accompanied by a book focusing in particular on the existence of a genuine “Belgian design” or “design originating from Belgium”.
This unique overview is preceded by four essays by Lise Coirier, Françoise Foulon, Francis Smets and Johan Valcke.
The retrospective featured works by Claire Bataille & Paul Ibens, Casimir, Jo Crepain, Dark, Durlet, Extremis, Xavier Lust, Maximal Design Modulaire, Quinze & Milan, Annick Schotte, Piet Stockmans, Vincent Van Duysen, Maarten Van Severen and many other designers.
