First solo exhibition by the Belgian Designer of the Year at the Grand-Hornu.
Having graduated in 1998 from La Cambre with a degree in industrial design, Jean-François D’Or began his career at the lighting firm Light, where he worked alongside Maarten Van Severen and Hans De Pelsmacker.
Since then, he has gained solid and diverse experience and opened his own studio in 2003.
Taking into account the requirements of businesses as well as the needs of users, his approach is always tempered by a commitment to accuracy.
His modest, simple and logical objects stand out for the clarity and readability of their concept as much as for their discreet poetry.
Published by Cinna, Domani, Interni Edition, Jongform, Ligne Roset, Reflect+, Toss B, Vervloet, Magnitude and others, he has now made his mark on the international stage.
The ‘Moodboards’ exhibition focuses above all on highlighting his sources of inspiration and his mental universe, characterised by rigour and poetry.
A monograph will be co-published by Stichting Kunstboek and Grand-Hornu Images to mark the occasion.
